Today’s parent clearly sees the value of learning a foreign language and of starting early, while it is especially fun and easy. Full-time immersion is not available to every family, for a number of reasons. So how do we achieve immersion results in just four or five hours a month? Our three-pronged approach, with roots in immersion, relies on learning through context, community, and confidence.

Culture Club’s unique after-school program and teaching style are designed to give your child a richer immersion experience. Our lessons and small class sizes are designed to give children ample time to derive meaning through context. We are confident that when children are given the time to settle into a second language environment, where they are building a community with their classmates. This class teaches language learning skills applicable to any future language study, French or any other romance language.

What you can expect when enrolled for a full academic year:
  • Your child is learning to speak full phrases from day one! By the end of the academic year, children will be able to understand and respond to basic questions that relate to them and their environment.
  • Your child is learning while having fun! We provide ample social time in the target language. Your child will make friends and build a community within which he or she feels safe to use the target language.
  • Your child is building a better foundation for academic learning. For example, he or she will gain improved reading and analytical skills which lead to better test scores.
  • Your child is gaining a better sense of cultural and global awareness. Children will be taught about cultural differences, but more importantly, they’ll start to see how similar humans essentially are.

French for Beginners

We are pleased to offer language classes at the “Beginner” level in French. With each of the classes, children ages 5-13 will be exposed to and communicate in the language, while learning about different countries and cultures. The age range of the children is broad because we place the children based on the level rather than age, which more closely mirrors a ‘natural’ language learning environment with a community-type classroom structure. The older students help and encourage the younger members of the class while reinforcing their own skills.

Emerging French Groups

We at Culture Club recognize that many children have been exposed to a foreign language previously; whether they have attended bilingual day-care or pre-school, or their family spent years abroad.  That is why we are pleased to offer you a more advanced class that will get your child speaking. This class is ideal if your child has had 2 or more years of French. Children will socialize and play games in French, as well as build vocabulary and expand on their reading and writing skills.

We have several groups already going. Contact us today to see about maybe joining a group!
